A hugely popular coastal path between Watchet and Helwell Bay beach in Somerset has been restored following a land slip thanks to a local landowner.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council said: “Following the recent closure of the England Coast Path between Watchet and Helwell Bay beach due to a massive cliff fall, the council would like to thank the landowners of the adjacent field, RoyaleLife, for their prompt response and assistance in opening a temporary path allowing people to continue to enjoy this section of the England Coast Path.”

Somerset County Council will be continuing to work with the landowners to realign the England Coast Path in the area and will confirm the new route later this year.

Robert Bull, Chief Executive of RoyaleLife, the UK’s largest provider of bungalow living, have developments in some of the most picturesque locations throughout the country including the county of Somerset. He said: “We were delighted to help the council to get the path reopened. We know the value of being able to walk in such beautiful surroundings and it’s never been more important due the pandemic, so we made it a priority. Rest assured we’ll do all we can to help in the future.”
