Generous Regency Court Owners Raise £1,000 for Charity

£1,000 raised for MacMillan Cancer Support at Regency Court Coffee Morning.

Generous staff and owners at our leisure development, Regency Court, near Torquay have been brewing up a socially-distanced fundraiser for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, raising over £1,000 for the charity.

Our team at Regency Court, exclusively for the over-45s and based in Newton Abbott, held the coffee morning on Friday 11th September. Whilst the serving of hot drinks was off the menu, we encouraged owners to bring their own cuppa, and offered a few light bites to enjoy if they made a one-off donation.

For £10 each, our owners could eat as much as they liked and had the chance to enter the raffle where there was a total of 15 prizes up for grabs. These were kindly donated from Devon-based businesses, including meal vouchers for local restaurants, a luxury hamper worth £50 and gardening vouchers.

The event, which was led by our Sales Advisor, Sue Hunt, raised £544 so we matched the funds, adding in a further £544 to the pot, making the total amount raised £1,088.

Sue said: “Cancer has affected a number of our owners at Regency Court as well as my own family too. We wanted to help however we could, as we know that funding and donations to charity have been short this year due to Covid.

“It was actually surprisingly easy to pull off the event, even with social distancing rules. Everyone donated £10 at the point of entry and then sanitised their hands afterwards, so that money didn’t need to be used during the event.

“As well as the raffle, there were salads, desserts and other savouries, all served from individual disposable plates. We made sure we only had 4 or 5 people in the room around the table at a time and asked everyone to keep to their own chairs.

“We were so pleased by the number of people who turned up to take part and thrilled that RoyaleLife agreed to match our donations. I’d like to say a big thank you to them, as well as to all those businesses who kindly donated prizes for our raffle – and of course the rest of the sales team and our owners for pulling off such a successful event!”
